Company H of the First Arkansas Mounted Rifles was part of a Confederate States Army Cavalry Regiment during the American Civil War. The company was originally organized as a volunteer militia company in the 26th Regiment, Arkansas State Militia, in Yell County on May 6, 1861. The Regiment was formed as a mounted infantry regiment, but was dismounted in the Spring of 1862 and remained dismounted for the remainder of the war. The unit participated in the earliest battles in the western theater at Wilson’s Creek and fought at the Battle of Pea Ridge, during the Kentucky Campaign (Battle of Richmond), Battle of Murfreesboro, the Vicksburg Campaign (Battle of Jackson and Siege of Jackson), the Chickamauga Campaign including the Battle of Chickamauga, the Meridian Campaign including the Battle of Meridian, the Atlanta Campaign (Battle of Dug Gap, Resaca, New Hope Church, Kennesaw Mountain, Moore’s Hill, Peachtree Creek, Atlanta, Ezra Church, Siege of Atlanta, Battle of Jonesboro, Lovejoy’s Station, Moon’s Station, the Franklin-Nashville Campaign (Battles of Franklin, Nashville and Sugar Creek), and the Carolina Campaign including the Battle of Bentonville. It was surrendered with the remnants of the Army of Tennessee in North Carolina in April 1865. This book is in excellent condition. It is clean and tight. The book has no wear, but has light aging. The interior is clean and the pages are in excellent condition. The book has no writing, smudging, foxing, stamps, pasteboards or other markings.
