This is a real "keeper." The booklet starts at the beginning: "The invention of the rifle dates from the fifteenth century. One Gaspar Zoller a gunmaker from Vienna was in the habit of grooving his barrels to facilitate loading and permit the use of a tightly fitting bullet. He discovered that when these grooves were inclined so as to form a spiral greater accuracy was obtained. This is due to the fact that bodies in rapid rotation have a strong tendency to retain their axes parallel to themselves and to offer a resistance dependent upon the velocity of rotation to any force that tends to deviate them.
