Description: Rare Vintage Akai 4500DB Reel to Reel Tape Recorder, purchased new in 1976. Original owner. Just got this out of my personal storage, cleaned him, and listened to some Christmas Music I recorded 47 years ago! Plugged in my headphones to test and sounds really great, Cleaned the play and recording heads. With age, there is a minor issue. The "tape switch" while playing, needs to be jiggled a bit for the sound to equalize, but once you got it, it's like an oversized CD player. :). This is a sign of the switches need a good cleaning, and I am not an electrical repair person who can take this apart. The walnut case is flawless, not damage or scratches. The record light does works in record mode. It looks very nice, compared to the others out there for sale, which have not been taken care of. For you audio enthusiasts, this is a must for you.
