The VEF M-697 network tube radio receiver has been produced since 1949 by the VEF State Electrotechnical Plant. The radio receiver ''VEF M-697'' was created on the basis of the receiver ''VEF M-557''. In the new receiver, the IF bandwidth control circuit was eliminated, which was replaced by a step-type treble tone switch, which did not affect the reception quality in the best way. The owners of the receiver had complaints about the instability of the local oscillator in the HF band. After 8 months of production, the model was discontinued and replaced by a new, more advanced Baltika model. The receiver is assembled on 6 lamps. The frequency converter is made on a 6A7 lamp, an IF on a 6K7 lamp, an AGC detector and a LF preamplifier on 6G7, a final PA on 6P6S, an optical tuning indicator on 6E5S, a rectifier unit on 5Ts4S.
