Rare Antique Pair of 18th/19th Century Carved Bone Folk Art Dancing Lady Statue & Whale Fork or Comb Click images to enlarge Description Up for Consideration is a Wonderful Extremely Scarce Antique Pair of 18th/19th Century Carved Bone Folk Art Dancing Lady Statue and Whale Fork or Hair Comb! c1780-1830 The Dancing woman statue measures 6.50 inches tall by 1.25 inch wide and has wonderful carving of a half nude woman with arms over her head , She appears to b dancing and resembles similar carved sculpture that were brought back by sailors from Polynesia or the Caribbean Islands in the late 18th/ Early 19th Century. The second is an Amazing Carved Bone Fork or Ladies Hair Comb or pick showing a wonderfully carved Whale at the end of the handle. It measures 6.25 inches long by 0.90 inches wide. Crewmen at Sea decorated these types of Folk Art carvings while aboard ship and then gave to their wives or sweethearts or children once they were back on land after a voyage. All in All a Very Scarce Piece of Nautical History! Condition of this piece is wonderful considering it's age.
