Description: For sale from my collection is a rare set of authentic Japanese woodblock prints and original brochure from the S. Watanabe Color Print Co. These were created to attract tourists to visit the S. Watanabe print studio in Tokyo where famous artists such as Ono, Kawase Hasui, Koitsu Tsuchiya, and Shotei worked and displayed / sold their masterpieces. In fact, Ono and Hasui are the showcased artists in the brochure! See photo #4 above and details below: 1. "Torii Gate in Snow" - Kawase Hasui - red Hasui stamp. Lifetime, ca. 1950's or earlier. Original, untouched print + card backing. 2. "Snow at Kyumizu-Dera" - unsigned butaccredited to Hasui -1940s / 1950s. Avariation of the larger obandesign (Spring Snow at Kyumizu-Dera) and matches the creative style of Hasui, but with subtle differences to the other card version. Original, untouched print + card backing. 3. "Pagoda in Snow" - unsigned butaccredited to Hasui - ca. 1950s. A variation to several other snowy pagoda designs created by Hasui. Removed from the original card backing and lightly restored to reduce toning and preserve original beauty. (I can include the original card backing if requested). * Condition: Spectacular examples of Shin-hanga era artwork and rare! Sharp corners, no tape or adhesive stains. No rips or creases. The brochure is impeccable. Despite being approx. 70 years old and stored for many decades, there is very slight toning and only a few very small random spots - the most noticeable is a brown speck on the lower right of 'Torii Gate in Snow' print (see photos). Please feel free to message with any questions. Thanks for viewing and happy bidding!
