Description: This rare piece highlights a portrait done by miniaturist Richard Cosway (1742-1821) of Princess Sophia, the 5th child to King George III. These were done in several Series (this particular piece in 1911) and are very scarce. The front depicts the miniature portrait of Princess Sophia on a decorated background, the back discusses the life and work of Cosway. This measures 12" x 9.5" and sits in a brass frame with thick beveled glass on both sides, making it quite heavy. The glass is damaged on the back upper corners, but is intact. No stains to the art and no dents to the brass. These are exceedingly hard to find and a unique piece!
