Description: DescriptionA fine 19thC antique Chinese deeply carved Giltwood Architectural Pediment half. This type of carved object was often found in the private temples of prosperous families. There are tenons on the base and on the wider crest end, where the carving would have mortised into the other section. The piece has had a wire added for wall decoration. Carved Chinese symbols along with foliage and scrolls, accented with a ox-blood red painted interior recesses and edges. All original gilding and paint. This pediment is in very good overall condition, with minor wear, small chips and two minor cracks on one end, 7th photo. Dimensions: Approximately 44.5” height, 8” width, 1.75” depth.
