The poem on the back references what is happening in litho.This card was produced to advertise at the Arkansas conference in 1874 and is a rare piece to come by.The cabinet card photo measures 6.5" x 4.25".Archibald Willard was an American painter and sculptor who is best known for his painting, The Spirit of '76. He was born in Bedford, Ohio in 1836 and began his career as a sign painter. He eventually moved to Cleveland where he painted murals and portraits. His most famous work is The Spirit of '76, which depicts three Revolutionary War soldiers marching with their flags and has become an iconic image of patriotism in the United States and has been reproduced on posters, prints, coins, stamps and even the cover of a Bob Dylan album. Willard's other works include sculptures such as The Indian Hunter's Return (1890) and paintings such as A Country Home (1886). His artwork continues to be celebrated today for its realism and patriotic themes.Condition:Cabinet card is very good condition, Images are very clear, a few stains and smudges, surfaces scratches all consistent with age of the image and use over the years.
