The black-and-white picture is excellent and doesn't show its age at all. The print is clean throughout and perfectly balanced. Blacks are velvety and have depth, while the whites are smooth and appropriately luminescent without any glare. The picture is simply gorgeous. The film is available in its original English mono soundtrack, which sounds fine, and has been given multiple subtitle options. In terms of extras, the disc contains the original theatrical trailer, some nice vintage advertising stills, production notes, cast and crew bios, and bonus trailers for other similar classic Columbia-TriStar DVD releases.
