Puro Mexicano tales are realistic accounts of Mexican customs and sayings. There are also illustrated corridos, or ballads with music sheets. Other tall tales included in connection are on mighty folk-heroes, Juan Oso and Catorce. Dobie was an American folklorist, writer, and newspaper columnist who became secretary of the Texas Folklore Society in 1922 and held the post for 21 years. Cover is red brick cloth featuring an illustration of a brown paisano, or roadrunner. This is society publication number XII. Cover is clean and and textblock is tight.
