Description: FOR SALE: 1910-12 SWEET CAPORAL PIN MILLER HUGGINS – PSA 4 This hi-value, low-population vintage pin is in excellent condition, with grade due solely to the centering of the pin. All words are visible, but the pin is centered to the left. As noted below in the Set Description, these metal pins are often found with rust around the edges, but this beauty has no rust. SET DESCRIPTION: Between 1910 and 1912, the American Tobacco Company branched out from the production of trading cards and created the Sweet Caporal Pins (P2) series. The set consists of 152 sepia-toned pins that measure 7/8” in diameter. However, there are numerous “large” letter and “small” letter variations, displaying the identical image on each, that increase the number of pins in the full set to be 204 – (153 - “small” /51 – “large”). Each pin reveals a colored paper insert on the reverse advertising the Sweet Caporal Cigarette brand. The 1910-12 Sweet Caporal pins seem to coincide with the T205 Gold Border as all but nine players are represented in pin form. The Sweet Caporal Pins are subject to rust around the rims and more often than not reveal tobacco staining, but most often fall victim to damaged paper inserts.
