Working surfaces are top and bottom flats, which are parallel at each other. You can also mill a bevel to one of the ledges to accommodate dovetails. The straight edge is made out of cast iron and by itself weigh 11.8 pounds or 5.4kg. The straight edge is pretty crudely scraped on the the top and bottom flats. Please treat it as an 80% kit and it is priced accordingly, you should reexamine and touch up before putting it to precision use. Material is decent though. USPS shipping in the USA is included, due to it's weight I wouldn't refund shipping if you decide to return, so please make sure you have the capability.
