Description: Presented is a fabulous quality Hanau German silver tea caddy, dating to the late 1800s or early 1900s. The tea caddy is very well made and quite ornate, beautifully hand chased with floral and foliate decoration surrounding richly detailed genre scenes. The larger sides have a scene of two women in a garden listening to a man play a lute, which is repeated on the top of the lid. The shorter sides show a finely dressed lady, between panels depicting various musical instruments, bows and arrows, and cornucopiae. The quality of the decoration is exceptional, all very crisp and richly detailed, and the caddy is a good large size as well. This piece is in excellent condition. There are no splits, no dents, no leaks, no breaks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs. The underside is stamped with Hanau German pseudo-hallmarks, for J. D. Schleissner & Sons. The tea caddy stands about 4 1/4 inches tall and measures about 4 by 2 1/2 inches. This piece weighs 189 grams or 6.7 regular ounces. -jm Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
