Description: Original WW2 British ARP Warden Civil Defence Helmet Home Front Blitz 1940 Genuine period helmet which was originally used by civil defence personnel such as ARP (Air Raid Precautions) wardens during the Second World War. The helmet features holes to the each side of the rim which denotes the helmet is made from steel which is not suitable for military service. This helmet is a Mk II No2 A (made from manganese steel which was rejected for military use), featuring one hole to the helmet rim. Two holes denote a MkII No2 B (made from a mild steel strip), three MkII No2 C (made of a mild steel plate) and four MkII No2 D (made from mild steel). These helmets were issued to civil defence services on the home front who did not require a military grade helmet. The helmet is a good original example, in good clean condition and complete with chinstrap, liner and liner pad. The liner is manufacture stamped BMB (Brigg's Motor Bodies), size 7 and dated 1940.
