Original Martian surface photograph from the NASA/JPL Laboratory and printed for research in the early 1980s on Mars surface processes. The grabber/backhoe arm of the boom assembly used to collect rock samples (with the clamps) or dig trenches. This is an image of the backhoe when they used the magnetic field to clean the fine particles that collected on the clamps. Thus, a one-of-a-kind photograph and not very common (most of these were destroyed at the end of the project).
