The map is hand colored by school district and has a decorative border. It is drawn on a scale of 1½ inches to the mile, and the image area measures 40 x 32 cm [15¾" x 12½"]. Details include wagon roads, cemeteries, school buildings, and natural features. Distances along area roads are measured in rods. The map labels dozens of property owners, and among the named places and features are Leach Hollow, Mountain Lake, Housatonic River, Fuller's Tannery, Episcopal Parsonage, and Rocky River. A large inset of Sherman Center includes a business directory locating a saloon, cider mill, dry goods store, lumber dealer, and grocer. Condition: The map is in excellent condition, bright and clean, with no marks, rips, or tears. It is blank on the back, with no printing on the reverse side.
