Description: 12 + pound Petoskey Stone The size and shape alone make it unique amongst other Petoskey stones (approx 13.2lbs with base). The original owners note of when he found it (aged 15 I believe) attached to the bottom of the base make it a even cooler find. Makes for a show stopping center piece that would appreciate a better place than mine to be seen and continue telling its story. I don't wanna hold this "Gem" up from its journey any more than I have to. It is The coolest Petoskey stone you're ever going to find !!! My add to the story: I acquired it during an after Estate sale cleanout a couple years ago, amongst a pile of rubbish in the garage. Destined to be trashed. I remember the guys I had working, without a 2nd thought - through the scoop shovel - it'd a found itself in the dump trailer headed to the transfer station. Gone. After being passed by probley hundreds of estate sale goers. I found it within minutes of arrival while still unlocking doors and turning on lights to start the workday. My precious. Any scratches, polishing/coating/ base or attached little stones - are exactly as I found it. The note attached is exactly as I found it. I have since found no pictures or paperwork with other mention of it. There exists a small chance as I tend to hoard ephemera that I could yet come across something I don't know I have. That would be shared and forwarded to the new owner if so. There appears to be 2 spots on the stone showing very minor damage to the coating? From being dropped was my thought but doesn't seem to affect the stone, there is a crack that wraps a portion of the stone but that's way way way old I'm sure. I'm also sure I know nothing on multiple subjects and have learned to leave things as I find them, I'm not sure if this is considered polished? Picture shows old residue on bottom possibly after base was attached, dripped like some sort of coating may have been applied. Bottom of stone appears untouched. The weight includes the wooden base and affixed small stones. The base cannot be that heavy so the majority of the weight is the large main stone which should still clear 12lbs. After removal. Included is the attached base installed from original owner, there are a few missing smaller stones on the bottom board display. Originally I'm assuming it was even more awe inspiring when complete. There is no mention as to if they were found together with the larger Petoskey stone.
