Description: RARE 1957 Olds Opera Trombone Medium Shank Leadpipe Receiver! Solid Nickel Bell This is a very unique and interesting instrument. It is an F. E. California Olds model making it highly desirable, but even more interesting/ rare/ unique is that it is not the typical large bore Opera model with large shank mouthpiece receiver. This has a medium shank mouthpiece receiver! In early 1957 F. E. used a European euphonium style medium shank on some models. This is the earliest known version of this instrument. Can you believe it? Wow! You will never find one of these, ever, no matter how hard you look. Not in this fantastic condition! This is likely one in only a handful left in this amazing condition. The nickel bell and slide finger print pretty easily but it cleans up really nice. Original finish. Very light weight. No wear that I can see. The slide is missing the slide lock. I would rate the slide 8.5/10. It is very smooth with clean stockings. A professional level horn. Comes with King Musical Instruments Coffin Case (as pictured). No mouthpiece. Please note, I have never measured the bore so I don't know what size medium or large bore it is (i.e. it could be .508, .525, .547, etc. or a combination dual bore. I just don't know. You are buying as is with that in mind.) It only accepts small/ medium shank mouthpieces. (Conn, selmer, Bach, blessing, edwards, shires, Elkhart, olds, Williams)
