Marchmont Farm is now a division of Claiborne Farms, Paris, Kentucky. Lizzie was the book's original owner, and then it was passed down to her youngest son, Charlton Alexander Clay, who owned it until he died in 1966. The book's top, fore, and bottom edges are foxed, soiled, and stained. The book has four illustration plates including the frontis by Gaston Fay. The book is inscribed on the second front end sheet by "Lizzie A. Clay Marchmont 1878." The ink bled over to the first end sheet, which also has a marking in the upper part of the page, "No 18 C.A.
