The slab turquoise is from the Stormy Mountain Mine, in Nevada. Extremely high quality turquoise was produced there. Stormy mountain turquoise is hard, dark blue with black chert matrix. The mine is closed, making this beautiful turquoise precious and rare. Stormy Mountain turquoise is a valuable addition to any collection because of its beauty, hardness, color, and rarity. These stones have been polished to a high shine. The turquoise used to make the beads is from the Carico Lake Mine, which is mined from a former creek bed. The beads are shades of green and blue with dark matrix. These extraordinary earrings are of excellent quality in both materials and techniques. They are not marked but were tested and guaranteed to be sterling silver. These beauties were purchased on the Navajo Reservation in Northwest New Mexico in the 1970s.
