Description: This litho is a copy of a mural painted by Robert McCall commissioned by NASA in preparation for the 1975 Apollo Soyuz Joint Mission in Space. It was the First such mission by 2 former Antagonistic World Powers. Robert McCall was one of the leading US artists of space exploration. His works are on display in the leading museums around the globe. The 50K Soviet stamp block depicting the 2 prime crews, the official mission patch, and a photo of the Soviet Mission Control was issued prior to the July 15, 1975 launch to commemorate this historic event. The 2 decals display Russian and English writing. The decal with the 2 crafts docked was designed by NASA with the input of astronauts and cosmonauts. The cartoon decal was designed and copyrighted by United Features Syndicate using Snoopy as the American Astronaut and the Russian Bear or “Mishka” as the Soviet Cosmonaut. July 15, 2024 marks the 49th Anniversary of the Apollo Soyuz Mission. At this time only one member of the joint crew is with us, Astronaut Vance Brand. With the inevitable passing of time, the value of these 4 items will only continue to appreciate!
