Description: Muller Freres Luneville Signed French Art Deco Chandelier w/ Beautiful Decorative Pink Glass Bowl and ShadesThis stunning French art deco chandelier is by Muller Freres (founded in 1895). Muller Brothers, in Luneville, France, was one of the premier glassmakers of the period. The Mullers produced art glass competing with Daum and Galle from 1895 until the war intervened in 1914. Resuming production in 1919, the company concentrated on ceiling fixtures, wall sconces and table lamps. The Depression caused Muller Freres to cease production in 1933 and finally close down in 1936.Four bright nickel square rods extend down from the ceiling cap, supporting a nickel band with four arched supports for pink glass shades. The central bowl of pink glass features a frieze of striding panthers. The fixture, which has been replated and rewired for American electricity is 30" in diameter and drops 38" from the ceiling. This beautiful chandelier is presented for sale with remarkable provenance. It was discovered and personally acquired in Dijon France in the mid '90's by the industry's renowned, foremost authority on Art Deco furniture and lighting. It was brought back to the states and professionally restored; eventually to be sold in the late 1990's to an accomplished collector who maintained it in meticulous fashion. Sadly, the collector passed; and we were fortunate enough to acquire it at a very special estate auction of some of the collector's finer estate pieces.Approximate dimensions: 38" Tall; 30" from arm to arm at widest point; 17" center shade diameter.Center shade has images of panthers. In the center of the canopy is a beautiful rose bud cluster.Very heavy; nickel plated bronze.Remarkable Condition. Patina has been maintained. Professionally rewired and restored.
