Description: Aero D6j Type 6A neck 16.50mm C-C string spacing exposed pole pices, and D6j Type 5A bridge 17.40mm C-C string spacing unexposed pole pieces. The Type 6A is a Super-Low impedance pickup. The Type 5A is a Low impedance pickup. Low impedance pickups have better high harmonic response. They were originally installed in a MTD 6-String bass, by international session player and Aero Artist David Inamine, where they spent almost 20 years. Aero D Series covers are 4.5"L x 1.5"W. To check the string spacing of your bass measure the strings from the center of the low B string to the center of the high C string over the center line of each pickup cover. This is the overall string spacing. To find the center-to-center (C-C) between any 2 adjacent string divide the overall string spacing by 5. Aero pickups have a broad frequency response (good bass, flat mid, clear high), and a high level output (you will not need a pre-amp to boost gain). The frequency response of all standard Aero pickups is broader than that of the instrument. You can use any pre-amp with Aero pickups, but note that the frequency response of the pickups is better than any battery powered pre-amp you can install. Aero pickups will accurately convert the acoustic-mechanical vibrations of your instrument into electrical signals. This means, if the frequencies are in the instrument they will also show up in the electrical signal. Why purchase Aero? For the case of stringed musical instruments, this is the mechanical/acoustic energy of the instrument converted into electrical signal. The more complete this conversion, the more exactly the electrical signal will represent the sound of the instrument. The key point to remember is Aero pickups capture all the musical "information" from the instrument/string system, so the complete mechanical/acoustic signal from the instrument is converted into electrical signal. 3) Aero pickups "will" make your instrument sound better, and therefore, make the musician sound better, no matter what playing style.
