Mt. Washington CROWN MILANO Art Glass Lidded Sugar Bowl, c.1890's

Description: Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a lovely antique Mt. Washington CROWN MILANO Art Glass lidded sugar bowl with reeded curled handles, c. 1890's. The sugar bowl has a matte satin finish with low rounded body and a dome-shaped cover. The flowers are decorated with delicate "jewels" and the hand painted decoration has nice coloration with a bronzed gilt embellished collar an exterior rim of the cover. This nice piece is marked with the Crown Milano trademark stamp and is numbered "538". A similar sugar bowl is pictured on page 94 of the book "Mt. Washington Art Glass" by Betty B. Sisk. Measures 4 1/2" high (to top of finial) with a 2 1/4" top opening and an overall width of about 4 1/4". Weighs 13 ounces. This nice sugar bowl is in excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws or signs of wear. Originally called "Albertine" glass when the patent for this Art Glass was issued in 1893. The name was later changed in the Mt. Washington factory records to "Crown Milano". The early examples of this glass originally had a paper label with some of the later pieces marked with the "C M" monogram.
