I have wanted to have one of these lids all my life, but I’m going to have to let this one this swing go because I am getting ready to move and I’m going to be selling off everything I do not have space for anymore. This does not take up much space and it only runs off 110 power. The motor was made in Mexico and functions absolutely perfectly. Everything functions perfectly as it should and I don’t know about safes, but I know it’s got a micrometer and a lot of other stuff. It is mounted very securely on a piece of plywood. I was also given other pieces that the owner said would work well for the live, but I have never attempted to use this besides, just plugging it in. I really really desperately wanted to do some very unique custom woodwork with this, but the owner told me that this is better for custom iron because wood shavings would clog this up and it would be a constant battle trying to keep it clean. Nothing is frozen or stuck and everything slides perfectly up and down the rails as it is supposed to operate. One of the rails has some surface rust but it’s such a small amount that it could be cleaned off within three minutes with a piece of steel wall and, it does not hurt the machine in the slightest machine operates like a brand new machine. This machine before I change my mind because I really wanted one of these badly for years and I finally came across this one. I was not going to sell it until I decided to possibly move and, I thought it might be a good idea to sell anything that was going to be hard for me to store. This was my pride and joy and I never even got to learn how to use it. I’m going to start bidding at $500 because I could simply never part with it for one dollar less. But I hope it goes for much more. If you really want this lathe like I did don’t waste time just bidding or trying to wait until the last minute, but instead email me quickly as soon as you see it and make me an offer that I can’t refuse and I may just be in the right mood to sell it. I see so many disappointed people every day because they thought they were going to bid in the last minute and then the item ended up selling for 100 times what they could have bought it for originally so don’t wait on this one. I have plugged it in and verified that it does work. Just do not wait on this whatever you do because the first person that emails me with a reasonable offer over $500 of course will have this in the mail to their house and I know how desirable these are. The shipping may sound high, but this is a very heavy object. It is also very big and bulky even as small as it is. I also ship with great care using the most expensive shipping products known to Mann such as the big heavy orange bubble wrap from Home Depot and the thick brand new Home Depot boxes. I do not take the risk to ship something without making sure it’s going to arrive safely and with a heavy item like this bouncing around in a box I’m not going to take the chance and I will also be insuring it. If I am able to save money on the shipping, I wouldn’t mind reimbursing the buyer for the amount if it was at all significant, but I have a feeling that by the time I get done packaging this in two separate boxes and using extra tough cardboard to protect it, it’s going to be an expensive package to ship, but if you had to buy one of these from the store, you would most likely pay much much more. Everything is bolted and secured very tightly to the base, nothing is rattling around or loose and everything slides and turns very smoothly for premium metal work. I bet you could easily build the barrel for a pistol or almost any other item you wanted to make with this incredible tool! Don’t wait on a 10 day auction for the price to go way up high or somebody to snipe your bid at the very last second.
