Description: MIJ Vintage YAMAHA FG-230 1969 12-string Electric Acoustic Guitar 1969 YAMAHA FG-230 (The serial number confirms that it was made in 1969) The first acoustic guitar from Yamaha, the FG series, was manufactured after the guitar division was established in 1966. It was a unique design based on the Japanese physique after studying Gibson and Martin guitars, and included various original ideas (body size, string length, top, side and back material selection, etc.). The models from 1968 to 1972 in particular were called "red labels" because of the color of the inner label, and the FG-180 was used by popular Japanese artists and was very popular as a Yamaha vintage guitar, so much so that a reprint model was even released. The FG-230, a 12-string version of the FG-180, was Yamaha's first 12-string guitar and was released in 1967. This instrument is one of two 12-string models (FG-230, FG-550) in the lineup from the beginning of the red label (1968-1972) FG series. This instrument is constructed with a spruce plywood top and mahogany plywood sides and back. The specifications are almost the same as the FG-180, except for the medium scale length of 636mm and the slightly wider nut width of about 47mm. It features a thick neck and sturdy construction, and even though it is laminated, it still has the bright, powerful sound that is characteristic of mahogany sides and back, and has a boxy feel even after more than 50 years. In Japan, the folk music boom began in the 1960s, and 12-string guitars became very popular among folk chorus groups because of their wide range and brilliant sound. It is well known that Kazuhiko Kato of the Folk Crusaders, who made a big splash with their hit song "Kaettekita Yopparai," effectively played 12-string guitars (Epiphone FT-85 and others) in many songs. The early Akai Tori band also used the higher-end models FG-550 (12-string) and FG-500 (6-string) (both with solid top and back, sides and back, Jacaranda). Speaking of 12-string guitars, there are many memorable overseas hits such as "Hotel California" and "Stairway to Heaven." Since it is 55 years old, there are signs of wear (minor, small, noticeable scratches, dents, chipped paint, etc.), but it can currently be used without any problems. This guitar has been inspected and the nut and saddle have been adjusted in our workshop. The neck is bowed, and the truss rod cannot be moved in the tightening direction, but can be moved in the loosening direction.
