Description: Maxfield Parrish’s “Autumn” - Original Double-Matted and Period-Framed Color Illustration (Frontispiece) from the 1911 First Edition of Francis Palgrave’s ‘The Golden Treasury Of Songs And Lyrics’. The image is 7 1/4”x 5”. It is nicely double-matted (brown inner, textured cream outer) and Period-Framed. Outermost frame dimensions are 11 1/2”x 9 1/2”. The frame is a re-purposed wooden frame from the 1920’s/30’s; (Thought it worked well) It is backed with 2-ply acid-free rag board, new dustcover, hardware and bump-ons, October, 2024 and ready to hang. Color and condition are excellent. MP iconic signature in Lower left corner (photos #6 & 7). “Autumn” was originally painted for and appeared as the color Cover of the October 28, 1905 issue of Collier’s Magazine, issued as a print (quite rare, I might add) the same year, and finally as the frontispiece for the 1911 1st Edition of the Palgrave publication (and several subsequent editions). Note: The first 12 photos are taken without glass to avoid reflection/glare issues; Photos #14 (slight angle),15 & 16 after completion of project. Photos 17 thru 20, the book itself, title page and tissue lining are shown for provenance only; the book is ‘Not’ included; the tissue lining ‘Will’ be included.
