Description: FUN FACT: Only cart of its kind - see last photo, there is no cartridge like it ever made except for this photo sharing game. You are looking at the rarest Mario N64 game ever released and sold in Nintendo's history - look it up online. It is also the only N64 game with a unique cart. This game is called, "Mario no Photopi" and this obscure game was released December 2, 1998. Impossible to find in nice condition, it has been noted by Nintendo's Mario Artist: Paint Studio's developers that their game, Mario Paint, which is considered extremely rare, had about 7,500 units put in circulation); then they go on to say that Mario no Photopi is so obscure and even more rare that sales figures are impossible to find. To put that into context, another Nintendo 64 game known as Mario Kart 64, sold over 9.9 million games. So if you are looking for something rare, its not a Tyson Punch Out (funny how liquid that one is, what does that tell you? Seeing people post 10 lined up in 1 photo and every member of the community owning a copy in said online group tells you all you need to know about availability whereas a game like Mario no Photopi - nobody has and you cant just go online and buy as it is so rare. And with gaming's most iconic character, you tell me where the REAL value is? In addition to it was just super hard to find, even upon release as it was expensive (around $115 in US dollars when converted from yen). Hyped at a conference by Nintendo, the game was made with the intent on debuting on 64DD but that did not happen because of the 64DD's drastic launch delays which forced the removal of all 64DD functionality from the game. From the September 30 to October 3, 1998, the game was publicly demonstrated at the Hagiwara Syscom's booth at World PC Expo '98 and that is it. That was the only public promotion or advertising for the game. So basically the delay of the 64DD really mumbled and caused a mishandled promotion and advertising for the game, and as a result, very little fanfare was made public when the game released and hardly anyone knew it ever existed. There are still some gamers in Japan that even know it exists. I laugh at the graded game market - let me explain. People are spending large sums of money for "North America" PORTS of Japanese games. Think about that for a second.....Nintendo and many other Japanese gaming companies, created, developed and released their games onto the world when the game was introduced in the Japanese market. However, funny thing - you will see people dropping thousand and thousands of dollars for "early", "mid" and "late" production of a North American game. Again, these North American games are PORTS so why does it matter when it was released, production-wise, in the USA market? THEY ARE PORTS OF JAPANESE GAMES. Too funny but sooner or later, the video game market will figure it out and a lot of "collectors" will lose a lot of money as some of their games are not first appearances or releases but really ports of games. It is just a matter of time before I am proven correctly; sooner or later, collectors will want the first appearance and not the first port of mostly Nintendo games. Besides, the Japanese versions have, by far, the best artwork whereas the USA version box art is usually pretty weak - which is pretty standard across the board for all N64 games. Graded by Wata, they graded it a Sealed (NS) 9.4. Wata serial # is 577134-003. Shipping with online tracking and insurance is $20. Included 3 snapshots from 3 articles only about this rare grail of a game. Taken from wikipedia: in 2017, Jason Johnson of Vice retrospectively, called the game "one part photoshop, one part Mario Paint". He said its obscurity makes it "a piece of Nintendo lore" and "something of a holy grail among collectors"
