Lyman Bullet Mold 452460U 1 Cavity 45 Cal, 45 ACP 200 Grain Rare “U” Undersize

Description: This is a Lyman # 452460-U single cavity cast bullet mould for the 45 caliber cartridges. It casts a 200 grain semi-wadcutter projectile and is a Undersize bullet for 45 caliber cartridges such as the 45 ACP and 45 Auto Rim. These “U” molds were long ago discontinued, and are intended to cast bullets to groove diameter as opposed to standard Lyman molds which cast oversize bullets. As a result the U molds are preferred by many for accuracy. From the Belding and Mull Handbook #38, 1959, page 48. “Generally, bullet molds are made to cast bullets larger than standard to permit sizing to the diameter most commonly used in a given arm. While there are exceptions, most cast bullets are sized .002” to .003” larger than groove diameter. Some shooters prefer to use cast bullets sized to groove diameter and some designs are furnished to permit this. They are designated as “U” molds.
