Description: Item is a set of rare production cels & actual watercolor production background from LYLE LYLE CROCODILE, Michael Sporn Animation's renowned 1987 animated musical adaptation of Bernard Waber's classic children's book The House on East 88th Street, featuring a score by famed Broadway composer Charles Strouse & narration by Tony Randall. The Sporn studio had a unique approach in their adaptation of children's books in that they created their animation artwork in full color on paper and then cut and adhered those drawings to animation cels so that they could accurately emulate the style of the actual illustrations in the books upon which the films were based. This unique lot features a scene midway through the picture when Lyle learns that his original owner is coming to take him back, and he dives through a huge pile of fan mail to hide under a desk. This lot features entire levels of PRODUCTION CELS of animation of Lyle in motion, as well as set up of characters of the Primms & overlays of flying mail, & a beautifully rendered watercolor-and- ink ACTUAL PRODUCTION BACKGROUND. This lot can be displayed with any combination of these levels for beautiful presentations or, of course, kept in your collection in any way you feel suits you. Lot includes 28 cels plus the background , along with production camera layout & scene folder. All pieces are bottom-punched with Acme-standard peg holes. Background is heavy white watercolor paper with black India ink & watercolor media. Cel artwork is white 20lb. animation bond rendered with water-based black marker & colored with dry-marker & occasional colored pencil, adhered to the cels with rubber cement. Camera layout is white 16lb animation bond with graphite & erasable colored pencil. The cels are backed with newsprint paper and should not be mistaken for any yellowing of the cels: they are crystal clear, even with their age, and the tan color behind the cels is this backing paper & NOT the acetate cels themselves. We must say that items from the Michael Sporn Anination studio are very VERY rare and just do not turn up... this is your chance to own not just a piece of Animation history but a singular piece from a unique and notable New York artist & his animation studio. Because of the unique nature of this studio's production method, the rubber cement that holds the rendered artwork onto the cels is often the 1st thing to age & often results in the cels curling or rippling. Be assured that the cels in these setups are among the best we have available & show NO aging, peeling, or curling. We're not kidding when we say MAKE US AN OFFER! We'd bet you take this gem home! And WE WANT YOU TO HAVE IT!!!! Item will be rigidly packed for shipping to ensure SAFETY in transit.
