LP, Shorty Rogers, Chances Are It Swings SIGNED BY E RODNEY JONES, NORTHERN SOUL

Description: VERY CURIOUS to have found this autograph on this record - by Shorty Rogers and his Orchestra titled Chances Are It Swings. I should say I cannot find another example of an E. Rodney Jones signature online or even a sample of his handwriting, but I will say these things: the name itself seems clearly to be E. Rodney Jones, and more telling, the words under his name are "Mad Lad". A short bio from discogs notes this nickname: "The late E. Rodney Jones may have been the most prolifically-recorded of the great R&B DJs. “The Mad Lad,” as he was known, held forth daily in the afternoons for Chicago’s R&B powerhouse WVON, projecting an air of cool. Jones’ syrupy voice was featured on quite a few funky 45s for labels including Tuff (where he cut the Northern Soul classic “R&B Time”), Twinight, Westbound and Brunswick. “The Whole Thing” was the flip side to Willie Henderson’s “Loose Booty” on Brunswick. Here Jones half-sings and raps his way through a description of a soul food party, making good use of the Alka-Seltzer jingle “I can’t believe I ate the whole thing” and creating a fun funky 45 in the process." I did find this album in an estate of a black family with a nice record collection, in which I also found LPs by Miles Davis and Nina Simone (original Coolpix LPs). So if anyone can provide me any information or confirmation on this signature, I'd be appreciative. RCA Victor LPM-1975, MONO produced in 1959. The Jacket is in GOOD Condition, with light edge wear although a split bottom edge from opening about 3", and a smaller split on the top edge at opening about 1/2". The record is stored in the original inner sleeve, a nice RCA sleeve but with a split bottom edge center about 3". LP has a few light scratches on otherwise very clean vinyl, I'll grade it in the VG+ to VG++ range. R11
