The pendant is made in a classic and elegant design, prong set with an oval cut sapphire measuring about 5.6 by 4.4 millimeters, about 45-52 points in weight, beneath a small modern brilliant cut diamond. The sapphire is a real, mined from the ground stone, with a lovely blue color. The pendant is on a double rabbit-ear style bail, so it hangs nicely on the chain. The chain is very well made in a twisted wheat style, and has a nice feeling of weight and quality to it. The clasp is a springring style, quite secure. This necklace is in excellent condition. The sapphire and diamond are intact and well set. The chain has no kinks or breaks, and the clasp functions well and closes securely. The necklace is stamped on the oval link nearest the springring clasp with 750 for 18 karat gold purity as well as an Italian government registered maker's mark. The pendant is not stamped or hallmarked, but we have tested it with nitric acid and guarantee it to be 18 karat gold as well. The total weight for the pendant and chain is 7.5 grams.
