Description: The LIBER USUALIS with Introduction and Rubrics in English, edited by the Benedictines of Solesmes, published by Desclee & Co., Tournai (Belgium), 1961 copyright by the publishers; with full Catholic Imprimatur dated in the same year, made in Belgium 7 by 4 3/4 by 2 1/4” thick in black cloth over board hardcover with 7 multi-color silk marker ribbons attached at the top spine, gilt embossed title on the spine, 1882 pages plus enumerated appendices and supplement of chants for certain religious feasts in the back of the book. This is the traditional handbook of Gregorian Chants used by the Catholic Church before the modernizing Council of Vatican II- with all texts in Latin including the Ordinary of the Mass, and with introduction and commentary on the teaching and singing of Gregorian Chant in English in the front of the book. The book has been REBOUND sometime in its history; all the pages are intact, complete, clean and unmarked, but the binding is pasted tight against the first several pages of the book both front and back due to the re-binding and the title page has a small tear near lower left corner due to this (see photo #4), plus there is a short prayer written in ink by former owner on the blank back of the last page only. There is a bit of curling to the page block edges, but the interior is in otherwise quite fine condition; AS-IS condition is noted and reflected in the lower pricing for the book- a collectible and vintage edition of the official chants of the traditional Catholic Church.
