Much of the Club’s fame stems from its use of some of the best illustrators and artists available. Each title was uniquely designed with individualized paper, cover materials, and most books are numbered and signed by the Illustrator.Bound as a soft cover in the French fashion, with pale blue wrappers with red lettering on the front and spine with most of the original glassine protective wrapper, (see photos), with all of the text in French. This French version was intended to be released concurrently with an English version in 1940, however, it was delayed seven years in shipment because of WWII and wasn't distributed to members until April of 1947. I have included a photo of a letter sent to the members by The Limited Editions Club dated 17 February 1947 explaining what happened during the 7-year delay in shipping from France to the US.
