Description: The Kenwood C2 preamp is considered one of the best preamplifiers ever made for the money, but many of the units need upgrades to get them back to true form. The biggest common issue is the balance controls don/t work and a direct replacement is not made. This unit has a brand new special balance board with new parts and works 100%. Another issue is that electrolytic capacitors get out of spec over the years, this unit has had all of the electrolytic caps replaced, the power caps are Panasonic FM and the ones in the signal path are Nichicon Muse or FG making this one probably sound better than new. The chassis and PC boards have been damped to reduce vibration, there are anti-vibration feet as well. All of the old base metal RCA input plugs have been replaced with modern gold plated ones. The old power chord was removed and an IEC input was installed, the wire was upgraded from stranded 18ga to solid core, cryo treated 17ga wire. There is a Vishay power cap across the power wires to make it dead quiet. There is a custom Mogami power cable included. As with any project of this magnitude all controls were cleaned with DeOxit. One thing needs to be noted: the tone controls do not function- most modern stereo components do not have tone controls because they add noise to the signal. This unit has been REFURBISHED and should give another 30 years + of good performance. Insured shipping is a flat $35 CONUS.
