Description: This listing is for a Kaukauna Klub stoneware butter crock. Item is cream in color with blue script. Crock is missing both seal and wire closure. There is also a slight defect on the lid, shown in picture. Dates back to circa 1933. Hubert Fassbender of Kaukauna Cheese served his cheese in hotels and clubs which quickly gained the nickname "club cheese." The Kaukauna Klub brand was established and copyrighted in 1933, the same year Fassbender began marketing his product in stoneware crocks. Crocks is USA made; see stamp on bottom of crock.
