Description: Estate FindJulius DresslerArt Nouveau Majolica Pedestal Jardiniere StandAustria We offer a Majolica pedestal jardiniere stand crafted by the Austrian ceramic company of Julius Dressler. The stand is modeled in the Art Nouveau style and dates from the 1890-1910 era. The stand is glazed in muted shades of green with vivid turquoise.The stand has two sections that are bolted together. The upper section is shaped like a pedestal bowl with a round flat top to support a jardiniere. The lower section resembles in inverted bowl with four petal-like foot panels flaring outward.Though not the original purpose, if the pedestal stand is inverted it could be used as a dramatic compote for flowers on a table or sideboard.As seen in the photographs, there is an old restoration to one foot panel which was broken. Julius Dressler marked his ceramics with a tower on a bed of rocks with the letter “JDB” below. The “B” refers to his factory in Biela, Bohemia established in 1888.The pedestal stand is marked on the repaired foot panel with the break going through the Dressler tower mark.“AUSTRIA” and “2567” are impressed with the painter’s mark of “YYO”.The pedestal stand weighs 9 pounds 9 ounces and measures 13 3/4” in height. The round top measures 10” in diameter and the base measures 15 3/8” in width.The rarely found Julius Dressler Majolica pedestal jardiniere stand is in restored antique condition.
