Jay King DRT Pink-Purple Jade? Sugilite? Beaded Sterling Silver 18"-21" Necklace

Please come back often, as we are always buying more goodies to list on ebay. This listing is for a gorgeous Jay King Mine Finds, Desert Rose Trading, possibly vintage, purple stone, beaded necklace. I did my best to research this necklace in order to identify the type of stone used in this piece. What I came across seems to indicate this necklace is a vintage item. Jay King began designing jewelry as far back as the 1970s, so that's possible. The shape of the lobster claw clasp, however, makes me think this piece is likely no older than the 1990s, which is technically vintage. It could be slightly younger. The beautiful purple stone used to make this piece has been hard to identify. I did match the design and color of the necklace to another like it, in which the necklace was described as being made of purple stone Sugilite. There also seemed to be a bit of uncertainty in that description, and in my opinion, the stone is too transparent to be Sugilite, as my experience with that stone has shown it to be opaque. When I look at this stone under magnification, to me, its structure looks much more like jade. I've been working with gemstones and designing jewelry for over 20 years, and I'm fairly knowledgeable, so my opinion is that this necklace is made with purple jade. There is a small degree of uncertainty, and if anyone viewing this listing knows different, then please message me so I may improve my listing. All right, as far as specifics go, the necklace is made with rondel (disk) shaped beads, measuring, on average, about 10 mm X 6 mm, give or take a mm either way. Six 6mm round, sterling silver beads accent the strand, and the necklace is finished with sterling silver end caps, as well as a sterling silver lobster claw clasp and a sterling extension chain. The necklace measures 18 inches in length, with a 3 inch extension chain so that its length may be adjusted up to 21 inches. The necklace is signed on the end cap. Apart from its sterling silver components needing polishing to brighten them up, the necklace is in excellent pre owned condition. The necklace is just beautiful and works well with just about any style of clothing! The pictures are to be considered as part of the description.
