Description: Japanese Kiri Wood Hibachi Small kiri wood (paulownia) hibachi. Dating, perhaps, from the Meiji Period, this hibachi features wooden pin and dovetailed construction. It has inset side handles so that the hibachi could be moved while hot coals burned inside. Upon purchase by the seller in Japan in the mid-1970s, it was outfitted with a new copper lining. Since then, the hibachi has been occasionally used as a house plant container. It does show its age and use so please review the photos carefully to insure that it will meet your full expectations. The hibachi measures 11 1/2" x 11 1/2" and is 10 1/4" high.
