Description: You will receive unrooted loose leaf cuttings (quantity of your choosing), each approximately 3-4” long (or larger depending on the season & availability), from our Jamaican Leaf of Life (Kalanchoe pinnata) succulents growing in sunny Florida. Home grown naturally using regenerative methods with lots of love and zero chemicals or pesticides. You will receive unrooted loose leaves just like those in the pictures. These leaves are cut fresh to order and are packaged together, not individually. Leaves may begin rooting during transit. Growing Info & TipsLeaf of Life, is one of the easiest perennial succulent herbs to grow from a leaf cutting. Also known as Cathedral Bells, Miracle Leaf, Goethe, Hoja de Aire, Life Leaf and Love Bush, it symbolizes the regenerative power of life with its green fleshy leaves. It grows outside as a perennial in Zones 10-11 (sensitive to frost) with ideal temps in the 75-85 degree range and can also be grown as a indoors. Outside it is best grown in part sun and will do well in the ground or in containers. Leaf of Life can grow up to a few feet tall, usually staying around 1-2ft. When mature enough, it will blossom with very pretty pendent “cathedral bell” like greenish-yellow to pinkish-red flowers. It prefers moderate watering, always allowing for the soil to dry out before watering again and once established is rather drought tolerant. It adapts well to water stress like a sponge, retaining water for dry times, which is one of the many reasons I love having this as part of my orchard floor. Care advice will be included with your shipment. Keep your leaf cuttings at 75 degrees or warmer. Simply place each of your Leaf of Life leaf cuttings in a pot of good potting soil laying each leaf on top of the soil, slightly burying the stem end of each leaf. Water once a week, or as needed but allow the soil to dry out between each watering. Don’t over water. You will notice roots growing out of the veins on the edges of your leaf and in 10-14 days you will see new growth emerging from the scalloped edged of the leaves. UsesI enjoy using Leaf of Life mostly brewed as a tea or blended in a smoothie. Yum! Lightly boil the leaves in water and simmer for tea. If eating raw or blending leaves into your smoothie i would describe their taste as being mild with a slight tartness & a crunch when you bite into it. Please do your own research before consuming. Please Note: All of my cuttings are fresh and viable. Growing plants is fun! The majority of the time it is a success but sometimes it’s not. This just is the way it is with nature and gardening.
