Description: Italy: Medal of the 9th Army for the Campaigns in Greece and Yugoslavia 1940-41. Bronze medal (35 mm) for Italian soldiers of the 9th Army that participated the invasions of Greece and Yugoslavia from 28 October 1940 and 23 April 1941 (see Brambilla, Alessandro; Le Medaglie Italiane Negli Ultimi 200 Anni (1998) p. 782; Tabacchi, Walter; Medaglie di Guerra Italia 1919-1943 (1989) p. 110). The 9th Army consisted of the Piemonte, Parma, Venezia and Arezzo Divisions. After the invasion of Yugoslavia, the 9th Army was reconstituted and occupied the island of Corsica. The reverse side depicts the mountainous topography where the 9th Army operated, between Mount Tomorr in Albania, and Lake Ohrid in Macedonia. Medal in extremely fine condition, on correct replacement ribbon; maker-marked “P.
