Description: A King's Penknife or Why I am Opposed to Modernism Author: Haldeman, I.M. FFEP clipped, tips show some rubbing, very clean and sharp otherwise with tight binding. Haldeman held New York's First Baptist Church pulpit for nearly fifty years. Haldeman was a firebrand preacher who was an early agitator for what became the Fundamentalist movement. His dispensationalist eschatology fueled a deep cultural pessimism and skepticism of worldliness and modernity in all forms. Haldeman takes as his main target in this book his fellow New York Baptist, Harry Emerson Fosdick, for him the paragon of Modernist impulse in the church. While affirming many of the main points of confessionalist orthodoxy, Haldeman also ventures out into critique of a hedonistic materialism which he sees fueled by globalist capitalism.
