Description: This is a very hard to find program for the Atari ST. It is Hotwire by Charles Johnson and John Eidsvoog, Codehead Software. The three and a half inch disc comes with the manual and version 2.0 release notes. Please note that the manual has page one towards the middle of the book. As you open the cover page 13 is first. This was done when it was created. This program helps create hotkeys and shortcuts on your Atari. According to the introduction "wouldn't it be convenient if you could simply press a key - any key - and immediately run a program from the desktop, no matter how deeply it happened to be buried in subdirectories? Well now that you own Hotwire that's exactly what you can do. Hot wire allows you to assign hotkeys up to 54 programs enabling you to run any one of them instantly from the desktop. And if you forget what key you assigned to a particular program, you can simply hit the right shift/help in order to access the Hotwire menu where all 54 programs can be simultaneously displayed. Then just clicking on any program with the left mouse button or pressing a top key will run it. Clicking it with a right button will display all of its Gotwire parameters. Hotwire is more than a quick way to run programs. It is also a general purpose, fully user configurable "shell" program which greatly facilitates the passing of file names from one application to another.you can even use file name variables on command lines making it extremely easy to coordinate the running of programs that share data files.
