Description: Proudly presented today is this magnificent vintage Kachina doll, depicting the Chasing Star Kachina. This figure is said to represent meteors or comets, and is somehow connected with Kana'a, the Sunset Crater Kachina.(possibly because the eruption of Sunset Crater and the appearance of Haley's Comet happened in the same year). Very Mysterious. He measures 15 inches tall, to the tip of his feathers. This magnificent doll was carved by Tyrone (Ty) Duwyenie, around 1985, a very well-known and highly respected carver who has won First Place awards at the Heard Show in Phoenix as well as The Hopi Festival at the Museum of Northern Arizona. In addition to his art, he is also a noted Hopi musician, who has performed in several Hopi rock bands. He has been carving for over 30 years, and is one of the most prolific carvers alive today.
