Stunning Victorian opalescent glass was once clear opalescent! A chemical in the glass called manganese reacts with uv light & caused the glass to turn purple. This opalescent hobnail celery vase is a light lavender opalescent now do to the "sun purple" irradiated glass! Created by Hobbs Brockunier & Co this vase was designed to hold celery on the Victorian table setting. Now it is a perfect vase. Due to the color change, this piece is quite rare. ** 4 hobnails are broke off at the very bottom row. 1 still there in between is chipped. Pictured from multiple angles. Pictured in multiple lighting sources with different backgrounds. Each hobnail looks like it is lit from within when it catches light. It is a stunning piece! Good antique condition.
