Description: This is a curious book. On the first page, it says: “To Thomas W Wilson With the Compliments of the Publisher July 31st 1894” President Woodrow Wilson’s name was Thomas Woodrow Wilson. There is no other indication it belonged to the President. The time of publication, he was the Chair of Jurisprudence and Political Economy at the College of New Jersey (later became Princeton). The year before, he published his third book, Division and Reunion, which became a standard university textbook for teaching U.S. history. There is no provenance to this book to suggest anything beyond what we know: this is an association copy of the book, given to a Thomas W Wilson by the publisher. The binding is very weak, and there are cracks to the hinges. The binding appears to have been repaired so that the front covers didn’t fall off. The back cover is completely detached. See photos. Stains, rubbing, chipping, etc Heavy heavy wear. Old books come with wear commensurate to age, including, potentially, age stains, chipping, rubbing, edge wear, dings, fraying, stray marks, minor old book odor, and the like. What you see is what you get :)
