History of the 61st Ohio Volunteers : Freeman's Ford to Bentonville - Civil War

Description: From Feeman's Ford to Bentonville Story of the 61st Ohio Volunteer Infantry Edited by Robert G. Carroon ---------------------------------------------- Burd Street Press, 1998 - First Edition ---------------------------------------------- Softcover with stiff covers. New "old stock" - this is an original, never sold copy. 70 Pages, Indexed, Illustrated with portraits, maps, and photos. ---------------------------------------------- Please Note : I have added $2 to the cost of this book to cover shipping via First Class Mail rather than Media Mail. Given the delays in the mail right now, it makes more sense. With the low asking price, was $15 with shipping included, I really can't absorb the extra $2. Thanks for understanding ! --------------------------------------------- From the back cover ------------------------- "Writing in a fast paced style, Robert G. Carroon tells the story of the farmers and small town boys from Ohio who found themselves serving both General George G. Meade at Gettysburg and General William T. Sherman from Atlanta, Georgia to Bentonville, North Carolina. The never before published history of the 62st Ohio Volunteer Infantry shades new light on the performance of the much criticized XI Corps at Chancellorsville and Gettysburg. The book also gives readers an understanding of such western battles as Reseca, Kenesaw Mountain, and Missionary Ridge, from a regimental perspective." ========================================= From Wikipedia Entry for The 61st Ohio Volunteer Infantry ========================================= Service The 61st Ohio Infantry was organized at Camp Chase in Columbus, Ohio and mustered in for three years service on April 23, 1862, under the command of Colonel Newton Schleich.
