Logan's expedition against the towns of the Shawanoe Indians; an Indian named Logan; two white captives; three lieutenant governors; a blind judge who ran for governor; Edward Knight, a man with a very large brain; and the multi-talented Piatt family. GENEALOGY BUFFS will find a list of 1888 county officers and businesses, and biographical information on Charles J. Chambers, Gen. Robert Kennedy, Judge William H. West and Judge William Lawrence. The Howe history covers the development of this area until about 1890, while excerpts from the WPA book, give a nostalgic glimpse from a 1940 vantage point, including interesting historical notes, especially as they relate to sightseeing possibilities. A 1933 history of newspapers in the county, a brief look at Jonathan Adler, the Ohio Caverns, the Betty Zane Tavern and Don Piatt & Macochee from a 1941 Ohio history book, and maps showing the 88 Ohio counties and 1805 Ohio are also included.
