Many titles in the lot were very clearly artists submissions and editor copies while he was running things at Weirdo/Fantagraphics. Some titles came with little notes and original sketches included, and others later went on get published by Weirdo / Fantagraphics shortly after the publication dates. Since the mid-1980s, Upton has performed numerous times as a member of GX Jupitter-Larsen's noise band/performance art troupe The Haters.
